Approximately 30% of the volunteers are users of the St Mary’s services and are making an important contribution to the centre that they love.
The role of the volunteers at St Mary’s has always been at the heart of the great work done each day at the Centre.
This year volunteer coordination, has focussed on increasing numbers and training volunteers in skills needed for the, sometimes stressful, task of volunteering.
Highlights of the year include:
▫ Establishing boundaries and confidentiality seminars
▫ Alcohol and Addiction workshops
▫ Secondary school student placements both regular and one off
▫ Corporate volunteer support both regular and one off
▫ Links with Shekinah Homeless Services to provide beneficial training and support

SMHOW appreciates the current contribution of our great many volunteer workers throughout Melbourne.
Please note that our volunteers must be living in Melbourne.
Our Volunteer Program has a set of policies and procedures that sets out the rights and obligations of volunteers and basic information about the organisation. A copy of this manual is given to all volunteers to help them (as well as paid staff) understand their role in SMHOW.
