The Big Give

No person should be alone on Christmas Day.

The Big Give is a Christmas Lunch for over 300 people experiencing chronic homelessness and disadvantage on Christmas Day, held at the Fitzroy Town Hall.

Since 2003, The Big Give has given individuals, businesses and community organisations the opportunity to come together and share the spirit of Christmas with people in need in our community. The day consists of a traditional roast Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings, entertainment throughout the day, topped off with a visit from Santa.

The Big Give has just one wish – That no Australian be alone on Christmas Day. In making this wish come true, we believe we can help the community rediscover the true spirit of Christmas, and re-establish it as a time that unites people from all walks of life. It is an opportunity for us to share our goodwill and to lend a hand and give a smile to those in need.

The Big Give relies on over 100 volunteers on Christmas day and up to another 100 volunteers to help in December. If you would like to help in 2020, please email thebiggive@smhow.org.au from October 1, 2020.
